fishing report

Two weeks ago it was blazing hot out. Not just the weather but the cutt fishing. Perfect time to get a newbie into some cutts, right?! Well, I don't think Sam was ready for how quick the cutts hit.
I could see the line get jerked out of his hands. "Set! Set! You just missed another one!"
So here's a pic of Sam with his first fish from the salt on a fly. Hey Sam, you can't even tell its a sculpin!
If you want to get into cutt fishing, now is the time!

Coho Magic

Here's another one of my salmon flies called Coho Magic. I will have a fly tying tutorial for it on the blog this Fall. It is now available on our website to purchase. The collar is two wraps of ostrich spey plumes from Hareline. It is great stuff!
The pink/light blue and chartreuse/light blue are killer for Coho. The fire red/black and chartreuse/black try for kings!

fishing report: Central Oregon

Last weekend we ventured down to Central Oregon for a family gathering. We were staying with family at the Crooked River Ranch so we brought the fishing gear along. The first night we were out driving around and we got lost. It must have been pretty obvious we were lost because a guy pulled up alongside us asking if we needed help. This guy turned out to be the owner of The Fly Fishers' Place in Sisters, OR! Not only was he able to get us back the direction we needed to go, he even had us follow him to a fishing spot to show us where we should go the next day. We stopped in the shop the next day to get more fishing info and buy some flies, I wanted to thank him again but he wasn't around. Next time you are around Sisters, OR stop in The Fly Fishers' Place. The guys in there had lots of places to recommend and were just all around good guys. Anyways, we ended up fishing the Middle section of the Dechutes River as well as 3 Creeks Lake (south of Sisters by 16 miles).
