Double Marabou Tube Fly
I'm really digging those anodized aluminum cones I recently blogged about. I've been tying up two color variations and might add more colors later. These patterns have some length to them but with the tube fly it enables you to fish a short shank hook rather than a long shank hook. Many people believe that long shank hooks give the fish more leverage to throw the hook. I tend to agree. Whatever the real reason is, it's true that short shank hooks land more hooked fish. The Double Marabou Tube Fly is a great fly for Winter steelhead. Hopefully with the snowy weather behind us we all get a chance to get out and fish for these magnificent fish.
